as someone that some landlords fly me out every year Southern mexico to California for college rentals to inspect homes and go through looking for damage and then patch and repair yeah the high end homes... First thing I'll tell you always look at your lease because if you have a certain rental time state clause then the holes in your wall loophole doesn't always apply to you. Second never get a home Depot paint match they suck worse than first grade color charts. Go to a little bit more expensive store and buy less saving $$$$ because you're not going to need a lot of paint store like Dunn-Edwards Sherwin-Williams catilina paints match it dry it and check it a few times to make sure it's 100% correct so it is a lot better than home Depot color match also remember if the wall is shiny when you have the lights on and it reflects light off of it then you have a gloss paint if it's a light shine semi-gloss and if there's no shine then you have what's called a matte paint. Magic sponges with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda white vinegar mixed together and good proportion 1.1.1 ratio remove a lot of the marks on the wall. The biggest thing to remember so that you never lose your cool is that all repairs take time time is money they either do it themselves or pay someone to do it. Myself because I'm one of the fastest and best that they can find I charge $500 a day. So I would let you know that 7 times out of 10 the landlord will lose money on every turnover which is why people get more money back for returning the houses in good shape. But because I charge that I normally leave the client in the tenants thousands of dollars. When I have to bring a crew in then obviously the damages are more extensive and there's a lot to be done. If you're not sure what you're doing hire someone off of Craigslist or Facebook but make sure that they show you photos of what they can do.
